Lemon Earrings & Co. – handmade from polymer clay

When jewelry makes you happy – lemon earrings and their fruity siblings

There are earrings that make you smile the moment you put them on. Not because they're expensive or perfectly match your outfit – but because they simply evoke a good feeling. Lemon earrings are such a piece of jewelry. Small, handcrafted, with that special yellow that immediately brings to mind summer, Southern France, and freshly squeezed juice. Those who wear them have consciously chosen something – for lightness, for a small joy in the morning, for jewelry with character.

When jewelry simply makes you happy

You might know the feeling: daily life is busy, mornings are rushed, the outfit is on – but somehow something is still missing. Then you reach for an earring that not only fits but makes you smile for a moment. Figurative jewelry does exactly that. It tells a story. A motif like a lemon or a strawberry doesn't carry a big message – but a clear mood. And that mood is contagious.

This is no coincidence. We associate fruits with color, with warmth, with summer. When these images appear as a small, handcrafted detail on the ear, something happens – the look gains personality without much explanation.

Lemon & Orange Earrings

Lemon earrings made of polymer clay – in three variations

Lemon earrings were one of the first fruit motifs I shaped from polymer clay. The shape is satisfying – that slightly oval, plump silhouette with the small stem – and the yellow has a radiance that hardly any other motif achieves. Each individual lemon is handmade, with self-mixed colors and custom-made cutters.

The lemon earrings are available as classic stud earrings, as small dangle earrings that gently sway when you walk, and as hoop variations for those who prefer a slightly bolder look. For those who prefer something more subtle, the small lemon stud earrings offer a particularly delicate version of the motif – tiny, but with a lot of character.

All variations are light as a feather, skin-friendly thanks to stainless steel or brass clasps, and suitable for sensitive ears.

Orange earrings – the sunny sister

Alongside the lemon earrings, the orange polymer clay earrings are the second fruit in my studio. The orange is warmer, rounder, a bit more Mediterranean in effect. Those who know and love the lemon earrings will find a counterpart in the orange earrings with a slightly different character – livelier, almost a bit louder, but no less handcrafted.

Here too, there are three variations: small stud earrings, dangle earrings, and hoops. For those who can't decide or simply want more of that summer feeling: the small orange stud earrings and dangle earrings can be wonderfully combined with each other or worn together with the lemon earrings.

Strawberry earrings – for those who like it a bit more playful

Strawberries have a different character than lemons or oranges. They are softer in shape, red-fruited, somehow familiar. The strawberry earrings made of polymer clay have this quality – they look playful without being kitschy. As stud earrings, they are a subtle companion for everyday wear; as dangle earrings or hoops, they make a more distinct statement.

Three situations where fruit earrings made of polymer clay are just right:

  • A simple white summer outfit that needs a splash of color – the lemon earrings provide it without being too much.
  • A friend's birthday is coming up and you're looking for a gift with personality – strawberry earrings in a small box, done.
  • You have a long workday ahead and still want to wear something in the morning that brightens your day – a small orange stud earring is enough.

Not just on the ear – lemons and oranges as a necklace

What many don't know yet: Walnut&cherry also offers lemons and oranges as necklaces. Each features a small, hand-formed polymer clay fruit on a delicate chain – subtle, suitable for everyday wear, yet still a real eye-catcher.

The necklace with a small lemon and the necklace with a small orange work wonderfully as a stand-alone piece, but can also be combined with matching lemon earrings or orange earrings. Those who like layering can wear the fruit necklace with a second, simple chain – it looks light, modern, and very harmonious.

Handmade wears differently. Not only on the ear, but also around the wrist or close to the heart – always with that little moment that makes the day a bit lighter.

Here's what our customers say about our earrings:

Heidi: Wonderful earrings of indescribable quality. Dreamlike!

Barbara: So light! covers my larger earlobes and finally I can wear dangle earrings too, won't be the last pair.

Inga: The earrings are really pretty, and nice and light. Can be combined perfectly.

The stainless steel versions – for a more delicate touch

In addition to the hand-formed polymer clay earrings, walnut&cherry offers a second family of fruit motifs: delicate stud earrings made of high-quality stainless steel. They are simpler in appearance, slightly smaller in size, and significantly easier to care for – ideal for those who love the charm of a motif but prefer to keep it subtle.

Five motifs, five moods:

  • Strawberry – playful and familiar, the classic summer motif par excellence.
  • Cherry – double wearable, as two hang from one stud – instantly adding movement to the ear.
  • Watermelon – the half fruit as a motif, fresh and uncomplicated.
  • Pineapple – a bit exotic, with a delicate pattern engraved in the stainless steel.
  • Apple – timeless, light, the most understated of the five motifs – and therefore a favorite for many.

How to combine fruit earrings without looking overdressed

The most common thought when looking at lemon earrings or strawberry earrings: Isn't that too playful for everyday wear? The answer is usually no – if the rest is right.

Figurative earrings need a calm setting. The simpler the outfit, the more space the motif has. And it is precisely this space that makes them stand out.

Three combinations that work:

  • White linen shirt, jeans, lemon earrings made of polymer clay – done. No other jewelry needed.
  • Striped summer dress, orange hoops, and the matching necklace with a small orange – a harmonious set that works together without being too matchy.
  • Simple black shirt, small stainless steel strawberry or apple stud earrings – the motif prevents the outfit from looking too serious.

Jewellery that doesn't need a concept

Lemon earrings don't need to justify anything. They don't suit every style, every mood, every day – and that's okay. But on the right days, in the right moments, they are exactly what's missing. That one little detail that gives the morning direction.

At walnut&cherry, you'll find all fruit motifs handcrafted from polymer clay – lemon earrings, orange earrings, strawberry earrings, matching necklaces, and small stainless steel stud earrings in five motifs. Take your time to browse – and choose what makes you smile.

FAQs about Polymer Clay

What are lemon earrings made of polymer clay?

Lemon earrings made of polymer clay are handmade pieces of jewelry where the motif of a lemon is shaped from high-quality polymer clay. The material is lightweight, dimensionally stable, and can be formed into very detailed shapes. At walnut&cherry, all lemon earrings are produced in small batches in the workshop in the Black Forest – using self-mixed colors and custom-made cutters. The result is a feather-light earring that, despite its motif, is suitable for everyday wear and versatile to combine.

Are polymer clay earrings comfortable to wear?

Yes – that's one of the biggest advantages of polymer clay over other materials. The material is naturally very lightweight, which means even larger earrings are barely noticeable on the ear. Lemon earrings made of polymer clay can be worn all day long without your ears getting tired. All clasps at walnut&cherry are made of stainless steel or brass – both materials are skin-friendly and suitable for sensitive ears.

Can I combine lemon earrings with other pieces of jewelry?

Absolutely! Lemon earrings work best in combination with calm, simple pieces. The necklace with a small polymer clay lemon is made for this – it picks up the motif without duplicating it. If you like layering, combine the lemon necklace with a second, simpler chain. Other rings or bracelets can be subtle but should not overshadow the motif of the lemon earrings. Less is indeed more here.

What is the difference between polymer clay and stainless steel earrings?

Polymer clay earrings are hand-shaped, have an organic feel, and appear warmer and livelier due to their material depth and coloring. They are slightly more voluminous in motif and therefore more prominent. Stainless steel stud earrings like the strawberry, cherry, or apple variations at walnut&cherry, on the other hand, are flatter, simpler, and easier to care for – contact with water does not harm them. Both have their place: polymer clay for those who like a clearer statement, stainless steel for a more understated everyday look.

Who are fruit earrings suitable for as a gift?

Lemon earrings and their fruity siblings are a gift with character – not for everyone, but a real hit for the right person. Anyone who knows someone who enjoys details, who wears jewelry not just as an accessory but as an expression of personality, or who simply loves summer, will be delighted with such a piece. Prices start at €15.90 for the stainless steel stud earrings and go up to €28.90 for the polymer clay hoop earrings – making the earrings also suitable as a smaller gift for birthdays, summer occasions, or just because.

How do I care for polymer clay earrings?

Polymer clay is robust, but it's not meant to be wet jewelry. You should not expose the lemon earrings and all other polymer clay pieces to water, perfume, or creams for extended periods – this will damage the surface over time. It's best to simply take them off after wearing them, before showering or exercising. For storage, a small jewelry dish or box is sufficient. With this simple care, the earrings will last a long time and retain their color and shape.

Are the lemon earrings also available as a necklace?

Yes. At walnut&cherry, there is also a necklace with a small polymer clay lemon to match the lemon earrings. The handmade mini-lemon hangs on a delicate chain and is just as beautiful as a solo piece as it is in combination with the earrings. For those who love oranges, there is also the necklace with a small orange – also made of polymer clay, also handmade. Both necklaces are available online at walnut&cherry.
