About me

I'm Julia, founder of walnut&cherry - a small label from Bad Herrenalb in the Black Forest.
walnut&cherry has been around since December 2018. The name comes from walnut and cherry wood - the first materials I worked with before I found polymer clay. The wood remained, at least in the name. And somehow it still fits: warm, natural, a little unusual.
It all started with curiosity and the desire to create something with my hands. I tried out whatever interested me. What has remained: polymer clay. A material that can be shaped like almost no other, is feather-light and takes on color in a way that I still find fascinating. I mix my colors myself, design my own shapes, and bake each earring individually in my studio in the Black Forest.

Over time, the first earrings have grown into an entire assortment. Polymer clay earrings in colors that I mix myself. Hoops and studs made of stainless steel and brass. Sun catchers that transform a room when light passes through the crystal. Small polymer clay vases for a single twig. Bracelets, postcards, accessories. And selected products from brands I like myself and whose quality I know – like the handmade bags from De La Mur from Barcelona or the KKNEKKI hair ties.
This is no coincidence. It's the idea behind walnut&cherry: not a single piece, but a world of colors and shapes that belong together. So you don't have to think long. So it simply fits. What excites me about my work is not the finished product - it's the moment just before. When a color is just right. When a shape fits perfectly at first try. When I know: this is it.
Handmade in the Black Forest. Feather-light to wear, often noticed – for moments when everything feels harmonious.
